Cellulose insulation forms a perfect fit in your attic or roof, covering all the nooks and crannies. It also blocks air much better than fiberglass batts.
Improperly insulated attics are a major source of heat loss. 28% of heating loss in one story and 17% of heating loss in two story buildings can be eliminated with proper attic insulation.
The efficiency (measured as R-value per inch) of the most common insulations show how much better cellulose insulation is: fiberglass loose-fill: 2.5; fiberglass batts: 3.2; insulation board: 3.3; cellulose: 3.8.
Fire Safety
Cellulose insulation is extremely fire retardant and is non-toxic when burned. A study by the National Research Council of Canada showed a 22% to 55% increase in fire resistance versus a non-insulated structure. Unlike fiberglass, cellulose also greatly restricts the amount of oxygen available to feed a fire.
Sound Insulation
Because of the way it fills in spaces and the material it contains (i.e. paper product), cellulose provides excellent sound proofing.
Pest Resistant
Our cellulose insulation prevents the spread of insects like cockroaches, silverfish, earwigs, centipedes and ants.
Environmentally Safe
Made from all-natural recycled materials, cellulose is a green product that diverts waste from landfill and does not introduce harmful chemicals to your home or business. It removes odours from the air and is mould and mildew resistant. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified Fibrous Glass Wool (fiberglass batts) as a “possible human carcinogen”. This warning appears on the product packaging.
